African Day Parade in Harlem

On Sunday September 23rd, 2012 forty Telem supporters participated in the African Day Parade in Harlem. Telem's Radio workshop participants also distributed copies of their audio stories which includes a "How-To create an Audio Podcast" video for other youth groups to create their own stories. Telem Camp 2012

From July 13th – July 15th, 2012, 105 people participated in Telem Camp including 73 children hailing from 10 different countries. 32 volunteers served as counselors, workshop leaders and administrative personnel. Campers celebrated the theme of being “Proudly African, Truly International” as they engaged in a wide range of activities, workshops, sampled African cuisine during mealtimes and experienced dorm living at Hofstra University in nearby Long Island, NY. Telem Learns How To Dance Azonto!

On Saturday March 17th, as part of Telem's cultural events programming, Telem youth, board members, supporters and new friends met up in Harlem to learn how to Azonto, a dance style originating in Ghana. We want to extend special thanks to Isata Sheriff, Mbalu Fofana and our new youth representatives Atinisia Sheriff and Fatumata Fofana for helping to coordinate the event.  See what happened!
