Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals information session

On Saturday, October 13th, 2012, the Village Collaborative (composed of Telem Center for the African Child, Association of African Journalists and Writers and The African Leadership Project) hosted a free information session for the public about the new immigration policy of Deferred Action.  Immigration attorney, Loide Rosa Jorge, explained what the policy was, who qualified, the application process and shared local resources on where to get help. 3rd Annual Community Enrichment Day

On Thursday October 11th, 2012, Telem youth participated in New York City Councilmember Helen Diane Foster and the 16th District African and Muslim Council's annual, Community Enrichment Day, a youth leadership event with the theme of "Intergenerational Dialogue."  Our very own Diana Musa received a Rising Star award for her work in the community. Volunteer Thank You Picnic at Central Park

Union of Sierra Leone Organization Randall's Island Picnic and Soccer Tournament

On Saturday July 7th 2012, Telem members participated in a USLO Picnic and Soccer Tournament.  We shared a variety of African food and drinks (homemade ginger beer) while Telem Radio workshop participants were busy interviewing community members for their audio stories. See what happened!
